Neurofeedback is a therapy in which the brain is trained to better control and regulate a wide number of cognitive issues. Much like training the body through physical exercise, training the brain with cognitive therapy can help it to learn and function better. We utilize advanced technology at our facility to provide cognitive training to our patients.
How neurofeedback therapy works
Using non-invasive surface sensors placed on the scalp, our advanced system is able to translate brain waves onto our computer screen for observation. The sensors do NOT utilize the application of electrical current. They are simply collecting the signals coming from the brain and translating them to the computer screen for observation. These observations allow certified neurofeedback technician Dr. Thomas Young the ability to identify specific abnormalities.
Visual feedback to the brain waves are provided instantly in the form of a movie. The movie only plays when the patient produces the correct brain wave. With guidance from our team, you will learn to retrain your brain to fight off cognitive conditions and symptoms.
Neurofeedback is provided to patients with the following conditions:
- Anxiety and Depression
- Sleep Disorders
- Brain Injuries & Concussions
- Fibromyalgia & Chronic Pain
- Behavioral & Emotional Issues
- Learning Disabilities
- Memory Problems
ADHD therapy without medication using neurofeedback
Several studies show that neurofeedback can help with ADHD symptoms. Patterns shown by our neurofeedback technology reveal when the brain is in a focused and attentive state.
Rewards are provided when the brain is in this state. At first, patients cannot control their brain wave patterns consciously. Over time, the brain becomes conditioned to associate certain patterns with pleasant images or sounds – a reward for good behavior. And our brains like rewards.

When the upper brain stem (or mesencephalon) is not firing properly, symptoms such as ADD/ADHD, sciatica, fibromyalgia, insomnia and migraines occur. Physical, chemical and emotional stress can adversely effect the brain loop. If one side of the cerebellum is not receiving enough nerve input, it fails to send sufficient nerve input to the frontal lobe. When this happens, it cannot send enough input to the lower brain-stem to keep the upper brain stem from over-firing.
Brain based therapy is an amazing and powerful healing technique used to restore our patients to their optimal state of health without the need for medications.
